इस article में हम Past continuous tense in hindi के बारे में जानेंगे। हम जानेंगे कि past continuous tense की पहचान क्या है, उसका structure क्या है और उसके उदाहरण क्या क्या है?
Past Continuous Tense in Hindi
जिस वाक्य के अंत में रहा था, रही थी और रहे थे आए, उसे past continuous tense कहते है। जैसे – वह स्कूल जा रहा था। (He was going to school.)
Affirmative Forms –
Past continuous tense के affirmative sentences में verb की 1st form के साथ ‘ing’ का प्रयोग होता है और साथ ही singular subject के साथ helping verb ‘was’ और plural subject के साथ ‘were’ का प्रयोग होता है।
Structure –
Subject + was/ were + (Verb I + ing) + Object.
Example –
| I was going to school. | मैं स्कूल जा रहा था। |
| He was going to school. | वह स्कूल जा रहा था। |
| She was going to school. | वह स्कूल जा रही थी। |
| We were going to school. | हम स्कूल जा रहे थे। |
| You were going to school. | आप स्कूल जा रहे थे। |
| They were going to school. | वे स्कूल जा रहे थे। |
Negative Forms –
Past continuous tense के negative sentences में helping verb ‘was/were’ के बाद not का use होता है और साथ verb की 1st form के साथ ‘ing’ का प्रयोग तो किया ही जाता है।
Structure –
Subject + was/ were + not + (Verb I + ing) + Object.
Example –
| I was not going to school. | मैं स्कूल नहीं जा रहा था। |
| He was not going to school. | वह स्कूल नहीं जा रहा था। |
| She was not going to school. | वह स्कूल नहीं जा रही थी। |
| We were not going to school. | हम स्कूल नहीं जा रहे थे। |
| You were not going to school. | आप स्कूल नहीं जा रहे थे। |
| They were not going to school. | वे स्कूल नहीं जा रहे थे। |

Interrogative Forms –
Past continuous tense के interrogative sentences में helping verb ‘was/were’ का प्रयोग subject के पहले किया जाता है।
Structure –
Was/ Were + Subject + (Verb I + ing) + Object + ?
Example –
| Was I going to school? | क्या मैं स्कूल जा रहा था? |
| Was he going to school? | क्या वह स्कूल जा रहा था? |
| Was she going to school? | क्या वह स्कूल जा रही थी? |
| Were we going to school? | क्या हम स्कूल जा रहे थे? |
| Were you going to school? | क्या तुम स्कूल जा रहे थे? |
| Were they going to school? | क्या वे स्कूल जा रहे थे? |
Interrogative Negative Forms –
Past continuous tense के interrogative negative sentences में helping verb ‘was/were’ का प्रयोग subject के पहले subject के बाद में not और साथ ही verb की 1st form के साथ ‘ing’ का प्रयोग किया जाता है। आसानी से वाक्यों को बोलने के लिए wasn’t/weren’t का प्रयोग subject के पहले किया जाता है और इस प्रकार इस interrogative negative sentences के भी दो sentence structure बनते है।
Structure –
Was/ Were + Subject + not + (Verb I + ing) + Object + ?
OR
Wasn’t/ Weren’t + Subject + (Verb I + ing) + Object + ?
Example –
| Was I not going to school? | क्या मैं स्कूल नहीं जा रहा था? |
| Was he not going to school? | क्या वह स्कूल नहीं जा रहा था? |
| Was she not going to school? | क्या वह स्कूल नहीं जा रही थी? |
| Were we not going to school? | क्या हम स्कूल नहीं जा रहे थे? |
| Were you not going to school? | क्या आप स्कूल नहीं जा रहे थे? |
| Were they not going to school? | क्या वे स्कूल नहीं जा रहे थे? |
